Thanks to our volunteer GMs, all of our attendees, and to the owners and staff of Games Plus. I love it when a plan comes together.

My final count for total attendance, GMs and players included, is 45, though I have a feeling the actual total is maybe 1-2 more. That’s fantastic! One of the larger Gamedays, overall.

I had a blast in the Dragons at Dawn event in the morning! We approached our first encounter with a 3e/4e mindset, and it nearly got us all killed. The shock shifted us into Old School™ mode, which proved far more successful. Hirelings! Caltrops! And my thief-assasin one-shot killed an ogre with a thrown dart! Good times. Line of the session: “We can just act like America.” (I.e., let’s arm some insurgents to create a puppet regime!)

My Marvel event in the afternoon went really well. I’m really glad that I got a chance to play test my event a week earlier. Everyone seemed to have a good time and enjoy the system. Kudos to Spidey for cocooning Carnage, Thing for downing the annoying Purple Man in one hit, and to all the heroes for literally scaring most of their opponents into surrender.

To sign up for an event, go to the sign-up thread mentioned above and post the event(s) in which you’d like to participate. Sign-ups are processed in the order they are posted in the thread. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the thread in case the event you originally chose fills up before you are able to post.

Gameday 31 event planning thread

Gameday 31 is being held on Saturday, March 17th. Think about it: what better way to celebrate the day a high-level cleric smote a horde of reptilian beasts, thereby earning enough XP to ascend to divinity?

Flex your GM’ing muscles and run some games for us!

So, whither Gameday 30, you ask?

Full disclosure: I never updated this site with any info about it. Which is a shame, given that it was our 30th event, with all kinds of special celebration. But, the simple fact is that our Facebook page has been serving us really well; there seemed no need to make use of this site.

Which, of course, was totally stupid. So, please forgive my oversight and accept my promise that it will never happen again.

Now let’s preserve some memories of Gameday 30 for future generations!

The official Gameday 29 attendance count is: 41

Given the many cancellations in the afternoon, that’s a really good number! And it doesn’t even include a few of the people who drove down from Madison. A few people commented to me that it seemed like Gameday felt “small” this time around, but it really just the small number of events in the afternoon. If anything, the fact that we had such a good turnout, yet the events still felt “intimate” is a great thing.

So…

I want to thank: our hosts, Games Plus; all of our volunteer GMs; and everyone who showed up to play. It was great to see both old and new faces, and that people were traveling from far and wide. I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate that.

I want to send out big thanks to our Burning Empires group; I had a BLAST. Bill’s heroic GM’ing, Willow’s face-punchingly-awesome rules mastery, and David’s sly criminal mind made for a thoroughly enjoyable game. It was really cool to see BE in action and flowing quickly. Not only did I have fun, but I feel like I learned a lot about the game. I know folks were worn out by 6:30, but I seriously could have kept going. Thanks!
